With Josh Bowman, Director of Product Management, Qumulex

What does your company do? What services, or products, do you provide?

Qumulex has created QxControl, a cloud-based video & access control solution that offers an open platform, single pane of glass to manage security. QxControl is a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution that is available via subscription or a perpetual license. QxControl provides open compatibility for video by focusing on ONVIF conformance to communicate with & manage cameras. We are also an OEM partner of HID Mercury and are compatible with Axis door controllers, ASSA ABLOY Aperio wireless locks and more. Our goal is to enable cloud for the traditional integrator channel by providing a traditional channel business relationship while providing the latest in cloud technology.

How long has your company been in the physical security market?

Qumulex was founded in 2018 and officially launched QxControl in late 2020. Our Founders have been in business together for over 25 years and have launched other very successful products in the past.

Why did you join ONVIF and how long has your company been a member?

Qumulex officially joined ONVIF in 2022. The QxControl platform was designed around ONVIF conformance from the ground up. We see ONVIF as the future for camera compatibility, allowing us immediate adoption of new cameras as they hit the market and was the fastest way to provide broad compatibility on day one of our release. We also built our analytic search capability and motion detection around ONVIF Profile M. We joined ONVIF because it is central to our process in going to market with QxControl and is key to our continued success in the future.

To which specific profiles do your company’s products conform, and why is that beneficial to your business?

QxControl currently supports Profile S. We will soon be releasing Profile T and Profile M for enhanced metadata capabilities, further enhancing our analytic search experience.

What does it mean to you to be a member of ONVIF and what kinds of business impacts have you seen as a result?

Qumulex felt with the level of importance that ONVIF conformance plays in the performance of our product, that joining ONVIF as a member was a logical choice. It has allowed us access to a wealth of tools and information and even more importantly, has allowed us to celebrate our membership and openly demonstrate our belief in the ONVIF approach to open compatibility.

Are there any specific benefits membership brings to your business?

There are many benefits that I could mention, but allowing us to proudly display the ONVIF logo as a symbol of our dedication to open compatibility may be the biggest.
