January 12, 2021 by ONVIF

What does Zenitel do? What services, or products, do you provide?
At Zenitel, we believe that intelligent communication is critical in all areas of business, therefore our expertise is focused on providing intelligent communication solutions that allow you to hear, be heard and be understood, every time. Zenitel systems interface with other security systems including video and access control for a comprehensive and interactive security solution. We specialize in providing intelligent voice communication solutions including intercom, public address, and emergency notification. Our key markets include: Building Security, Public Safety, Transportation, Industrial Manufacturing, Energy, Education, Retail, and Healthcare.

How long has Zenitel been in the physical security market?
Stentor Radiofabrikk was founded in 1946 and manufactured radio communication systems for fishing boats, ships, and other vessels. A few years later, the company expanded its product range by including intercom systems for physical security. Today, the two product brands, Vingtor and Stentofon are one, as a part of the Zenitel Group, producing intelligent critical communication solutions under the Zenitel brand.

Why did you join ONVIF and how long has Zenitel been a member?
In 2010, we joined the ONVIF community because we saw the value in working with open standards, such as those set forth by ONVIF, to build industry partnerships. We also appreciate the value that ONVIF provides to end users, which includes giving them the flexibility to choose solutions specific to their risk mitigation needs. We want to be a part of an organization that allows end users to integrate their solutions for ROI, and ONVIF does that.

To which specific profiles does your company’s products conform, and why is that beneficial to your business?
Our TCIV and TCIV+ intercom stations conform to ONVIF Profile S. Conformance is beneficial to our business and our customers, as it allows our solutions to be discovered by and interoperable with other conformant Video Management Systems (which encompasses virtually all VMS solutions in the marketplace today).

What does it mean to you to be a member of ONVIF and what kinds of business impacts have you seen as a result?
We embrace ONVIF’s goal of providing and promoting standards for effective interoperability of IP-based physical security products. We believe that interoperability should be a cornerstone of every security solution, regardless of brand, and we are thrilled to be part of ONVIF’s growing IP interoperability community.
