ONVIF to present on video authenticity at Intersec 2025

SAN RAMON, Calif. –  Dec. 20, 2024. ONVIF®, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, is announcing that it will give a presentation at Intersec 2025, to be held January 14-16 in Dubai, on how to ensure the authenticity of surveillance video in the age of generative AI.

The session, titled “Matter of Trust: Media Authenticity in Video Surveillance”, will be presented by Leo Levit, Chairman of the ONVIF Steering Committee as part of the Intersec Security Leader’s Summit, at 13:40 on Wednesday, January 15 at the Dubai World Trade Center. The presentation will illustrate why there is a need to authenticate video and a way to do it directly from the camera as video is captured.

“Today’s sophisticated tools create the potential for deepfakes and for video footage to be subtly altered in ways that are challenging for the human eye to detect,” said Levit. “The time is now to safeguard the authenticity of video so that it can remain as a trusted source of evidence in court and as an accurate record of an event.”

Founded in 2008, ONVIF is a leading and well-recognized industry forum driving interoperability for IP-based physical security products. The organization has a global member base of established camera, video management system and access control companies and more than 30,000 profile conformant products. ONVIF offers Profile S for streaming video; Profile G for video recording and storage; Profile C for physical access control; Profile A for broader access control configuration; Profile T for advanced video streaming; Profile M for metadata and events for analytics applications and Profile D for access control peripherals.
