ONVIF to Host Public Networking Breakfast at ASIS 2011

  • ONVIF Chairman Jonas Andersson to present on groups progress
  • Number of conformant products now more than 900
  • ONVIF specification supported by majority of leading network video manufacturers

San Ramon, CA – Sept 7, 2011. ONVIF, the leading standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced today that it will host an open networking breakfast on Tuesday, September 20 as part of the upcoming ASIS 2011 conference in Orlando, Florida, USA. Attendees at the event will hear an update about ONVIF’s recent progress in the standardization space and news about the groups growth in membership and conformant products.

ONVIF’s growing membership of more than 325 companies and 900 different conformant products available to the market signifies a continued growth in industry interest and adoption of the ONVIF specification. To continue the industry dialogue about the influence of standards in the physical security industry, ONVIF hosts a series of networking receptions and public interoperability demonstrations at major security industry conferences around the world. These gatherings continue to attract significant numbers of industry participants who are attending an ONVIF event for the first time or who have no affiliation with ONVIF.

"Manufacturers and consultants have overwhelmingly chosen ONVIF as the method for standardization of IP-based physical security products," said Jonas Andersson, Chairman of ONVIF’s Steering Committee. "We look forward to continuing that momentum and offering systems integrators and end users additional freedom of choice and ease of installation in their current and future security systems."

With a planned expansion of its specification to include physical access control systems, slated for release later this year, ONVIF is focused on the ultimate goal of providing a global open network interface standard for physical IP-based security equipment. The ONVIF Core Specification 2.0, which encompasses video storage, display devices, video analytics and other areas, was released in late 2010.

More information about ONVIF conformant products, including the vendors and the
conformant models, is available on ONVIF’s website: www.onvif.org.

The ONVIF networking breakfast will take place at 8.30 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, at the Rosen Centre Hotel (Connected to Orange County Convention Center), 9840 International Drive, Orlando FL, Room: Salon 1 amp; 2 .
