ldquo;The resources and experience that the new members bring to ONVIF are a great asset, and we look forward to working together to establish a global standard for network video
products, rdquo; says Jonas Andersson, Chairman of ONVIF rsquo;s Steering Committee. ldquo;Based on the response we have experienced so far, we expect our member base to grow quickly within the next months. rdquo;

ONVIF rsquo;s first member meeting and open house, held December 3-4 in Washington D.C.,
received great interest from the industry. 93 participants from over 60 companies participated at the event. The main focus of the meeting was the presentation of the 1.0 version of the ONVIF core specification which included a detailed walkthrough of the specification. Attendees also received an overview about the forum rsquo;s organization, activities and membership possibilities.

The 1.0 version of ONVIF core specification is now available for download at www.onvif.org. It defines standardized procedures for communication between network video products, and makes it possible to use common and well defined interfaces when building a network video system with components from different manufacturers. These interfaces cover local and remote device discovery, device management, imaging configuration, media configuration, real-time streaming of audio and video, event handling, video analytics, PTZ (Pan, Tilt and Zoom) control and security. Specifications for automatic code generation of application interfaces are also available. The ONVIF specifications will be further developed by the forum and its members.
