ONVIF Members Demonstrate Interoperability At Open Reception In Anaheim, CA

San Ramon, CA. ONVIF held an Open Reception on September 22 at the Sheraton Hotel in Anaheim, California in conjunction with the ASIS trade show. The 146 participants from 58 companies heard ONVIF Chairman Jonas Andersson talk about ONVIF rsquo;s accomplishments during its first year of operations and the forum rsquo;s outlook for 2010.
The highlight of the event was the show plug fest, where nine companies demonstrated 14
interoperable network video products. In a peer-to-peer set up, AVerMedia, Axis, Bosch, Canon, IndigoVision, Lilin, Panasonic, Sony, and Vivotek proved the successful implementation of the ONVIF core specification 1.0 into a total of ten network cameras and four software clients.
Ken Iwasaki from Sony Corporation, Member of the ONVIF Steering Committee summarizes the reception: ldquo;It was encouraging for all of ONVIF members to have around 150 people from various areas of the security industry to attend our first show plug fest. With the successful interoperability demonstration, we were able to demonstrate how ONVIF is going to provide a convincing answer to standardization and global interoperability. We will continue to be open to share our activities and plan to have similar activities in the future. rdquo;
The importance and positive influence of ONVIF rsquo;s accomplishments was also recognized by the attendees. ldquo;The ONVIF specification is a very important step for the security industry as it helps IP video products to work seamlessly together rdquo;, says Henrik Friborg, VP Strategic Alliance at Milestone Systems. ldquo;At Milestone we recognize that interoperability of equipment has enormous value for the end customer and we have designed our software products with this demand in mind. The ONVIF compliance is a natural addition and one of the reasons why we are supporting ONVIF. rdquo;
