  • There are now over 600 ONVIF conformant products on the market, a number that has doubled just within the last three months.
  • The ONVIF membership count has increased to over 250 companies.
  • The recently released ONVIF Core Specification 2.0 extends ONVIF’s reach to video storage, display devices, video analytics and several other areas.

San Ramon, CA. – January 25, 2011. ONVIF, the leading global standardization initiative for IPbased physical security products, today announced that the number of ONVIF conformant products, including network cameras and video management systems, has reached over 600. The rapidly increasing number of ONVIF conformant products is making it easier day by day for end users, integrators and consultants to build best-of-breed security solutions from multiple vendors.

Three months ago, in October 2010, the number of ONVIF conformant products was about 300. Since then the number has doubled, which is an astounding increase. This clearly shows that the industry has chosen ONVIF as the preferred interface, says Jonas Andersson, Axis Communications, Chairman of ONVIF’s Steering Committee. Meanwhile, ONVIF is working on increased interoperability with more focus on test specification and test tool to ensure future interoperability of ONVIF conformant products.

Apart from the growth of ONVIF conformant products, ONVIF members have also increased to more than 250, including 15 full members, 23 contributing members and 220 user members.

And with the recently released ONVIF Core Specification 2.0, ONVIF is now extending the reach of its specifications to video storage, display devices, video analytics and several other areas. All in all, this means that ONVIF is getting even closer to the goal of facilitating simple integration of IP-based physical security equipment using a global open network interface.
