ONVIF Newsletter April 2025
Greetings from Leo Levit,
We’ve hit the ground running in 2025, making the most of the first quarter with a strong presence at major industry events across the Middle East, Eastern Europe, the United States, and the UK. It’s been a privilege to reconnect with colleagues and engage with members of the industry in so many regions around the world.
These events enable us to gather valuable feedback from these various parts of the globe about ONVIF standards and learn more about some of the differences – importance of local regulations, regional product availability, end user requirements, etc. – and how ONVIF standards can help systems integrators and end users in a variety of ways.
These perspectives from the greater security community, as well as from our member companies around the world who contribute to the work of ONVIF, continue to drive our mission of interoperability, freedom of choice, and the importance of standards that are applicable in nearly every geography.
A sincere thank you to everyone who has shared their feedback and ideas with us so far. We look forward to many more meaningful conversations throughout the year!
Kind regards,
Leo Levit
Chairman, ONVIF Steering Committee

ONVIF at ISC West
The 2025 ISC West security exhibition in Las Vegas, held in early April, was a resounding success—and ONVIF was proud to be a part of it. Visitors to the ONVIF booth explored our key messages of global interoperability, cloud integration, and AI, and got hands-on with an interactive, Jeopardy-style trivia game that brought our video and access control profiles to life in a fun and educational way.
Beyond the booth, ONVIF had a strong presence in the SIA Education @ ISC program with two sessions. First, ONVIF chairman Leo Levit delivered the session “Can Security Video Survive Generative AI?”, which examined the integrity of surveillance video and how standards being developed by ONVIF can help to ensure the authenticity of video files throughout the chain of custody.
Levit also spoke as a panelist in a session that explored the critical intersection of Operational Technology (OT) with physical security. In the session “Bridging OT and Physical Security,” panelists from Allegion, Wesco, and M.C. Dean joined Levit in discussing themes of interoperability, privacy, and other challenges and benefits brought by the confluence of physical security and OT.

The meetings, which represented 10 committees and working groups, focused on a wide range of key industry topics, including cloud connectivity, video integrity, audio, cybersecurity, AI, metadata, open source, and conformance testing.
Contributing and Full members will convene at the next All Committee meeting in September in Montreal, Canada.
