In early October, ONVIF was excited to host our 22nd Developers\u2019 Plugfest – our first as a virtual event. Like so many other organizations, we\u2019ve been forced to adapt to the new global landscape and ways of conducting business – in a safe, yet collaborative way. As such, we are pleased to report that attendance to this virtual event was high, featuring nearly 50 developers and engineers from 26 ONVIF member companies. These participants gathered virtually over two weeks to complete nearly 200 hours of testing. Participants in the Plugfest could test products independently for profile conformance<\/a>, as well as assess interoperability between their devices and those from other manufacturers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Like so many other organizations, ONVIF has had to adapt to new ways of collaborating and exchanging ideas,\u201d said Per Bj\u00f6rkdahl, chair of the ONVIF Steering Committee. \u201cInteroperability doesn\u2019t happen in a vacuum and, while nothing will replace valuable face-to-face interaction with our members, we are grateful for the continued participation of member companies in supporting ONVIF profile conformance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Profiles<\/a> tested at this event include Profile A for access control configuration, Profile C for door control and event management, Profile S for basic video streaming, Profile T for advanced video streaming, Profile G for edge storage and retrieval, Profile Q for quick installation and the Profile M Release Candidate for metadata and analytics for smart applications<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ONVIF Developers\u2019 Plugfests<\/a> are typically held twice a year around the world, allowing the global members of ONVIF to gather and test their implementations. Due to the uncertain nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, details of the 23rd virtual ONVIF Developers\u2019 Plugfest will be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
