It\u2019s no secret that the security industry has been advancing towards customized applications to help mitigate COVID-19 risks – many of which fall heavily within the AI and IoT realm. This rise in connected devices and demand for integration of smart applications is happening in tandem with these technologies becoming more mainstream. This is ultimately leading to an investment in analytics, as businesses continue to search for solutions to help them reopen and reboot infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help the industry meet this new demand, ONVIF<\/a> has announced a draft profile known as Profile M<\/a>, which will be a crucial component for organizations seeing open solutions for their smart applications. By utilizing Profile M and its standardization of metadata and event handling of analytics for smart applications, users can increase interoperability of IP cameras or analytics with video management systems. This ultimately allows users to mix and match analytics and camera hardware and software from different providers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we continue to see an increase in the number of smart applications for security, business intelligence and IoT devices, interoperability<\/a> demands are also increasing. With many mid-sized to enterprise-level organizations looking for solutions to manage occupancy, limit contact at access points or encourage social distancing, Profile M can provide an easy integration path into larger IoT. This can be achieved by simply linking basic devices, such as IP cameras, into building management or other business intelligence platforms, offering greater visibility into building operations or a larger data set on which to perform analysis. The end result is that the interoperability<\/a> offered by devices and clients conformant with Profile M can encourage further growth in the types of applications – offering a variety of technologies for end users to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
